　　Existential therapy has been practiced and continues to be

我在讨论存在孤独的临床表征时，必然会把重心放在人际关系上。但是我和传统人际关系心理学的不同在于，我并不强调像安全、依恋、自我肯定、欲望满足，或者权力；相反，我关注的是关系如何能够舒缓根本而普遍存在的孤独感。

没有一种关系可以消除孤独感。我们每个人都是 孤独存在的。但是孤独感可以被共享，爱能够弥补孤独感带来的痛苦。布伯说：“伟大的关系可以突破孤独的障碍，压制它的严厉规则，在不同个体的自我之间架起一座桥梁，跨越对世界的恐惧深渊。”

我相信如果我们承认自己的存在是孤独的，并且毅然地面对孤独，我们就能够真正地去爱他人。可如果我们在深不可测的寂寞前为恐惧所征服，我们就不可能真正和他人建立联系。相反，我们会为了力图不在存在的海洋中溺亡，而向他人疯狂地舞动双手。

不可能有永无止境的进步，对某件事情的愿望也不可能总需要理由，有些事情本身就是愿望的理由，因为它符合人的情感。

努力、成就、不断进步的存在真的是人类最深层次的动机吗？答案几乎肯定是否定的。

没有人能够一直实现目的，一直有所创造。没有人可以接连不断地获得成功。正确的方向是在达到目的的过程中，而非目的的达成；不是走入旅馆，而是走向旅馆。

生命只是存在着，我们则恰好被投入其中。生命不需要理由。

他并没有在生活之中，他使自己远离生活，使得生命和人类的活动以及体验在他看起来是那么荒谬和微不足道。

所谓意义，是在采用宇宙视角的时候，需要证明某件事情还是有所谓的。在其他时候，某件事情之所以重要就是因为它本身重要。如果事情本身是重要的，它们不需要意义来支持其重要性！

采用新的意义架构或者处于深刻的怀疑状态（即从宇宙观点来看待一生）并不会损伤生命其他时刻的重要事物。

“责任”是指病人作出理性行为的能力以及治疗师对于病人的道德承诺。

负责人是“成为一个事件或者某物的毫无争议的作者”。责任意味着个人原创。意识到责任等同于意识到自己是自我、命运、生命中的困阻和感受的创造者，也是个体自身痛苦的创造者。如果病人不能够接受这种责任，仍坚持认为其他人或者其他因素是造成自己不快的罪魁祸首，就不可能有真正的治疗。

当他发现了自己对于世界的责任之时，对于真实“处境”的认识就与他迎面相撞、嵌入其内。只有通过人建构世界的方式，世界才获得了意义，用萨特的术语说，这是“对己存有”。在世上，没有超脱或者独立于“对己存有”的意义。
