Mei Zihan was born in 1949. He is a professor at Shanghai Normal University and a Chinese children's writer of dozens of stories, including The Story of My Daughter and Dai Xiaoqiao and His Buddies. As a researcher of children's literature, he has also written and edited a number of theoretical works, such as On the Narrative Form of Children's Fiction, Reading Children's Literature, etc. He has won Bing Xin Children's Literature Award, National Excellent Children's Literature Award, China Book Award, etc. Mei Zihan strives to portray the everyday life of Chinese children in his works, accentuating their happy simplicity and adding little sophistication of an adult.
